Copan, one of the richest artisan Mayan sites in Central American, displays many stela(e) of rulers from 5 to 9 A.D. This is the Classic period of the Mayan occupation of southern Honduras and neighboring El Salvador. We spent a wonderful 3 days, visiting the archaeological site, made an acquaintance with a significant sculptor (One of his replica stela returned with us to No. America.), and felt so comfortable in this small city watching the world from a second story balcony and hotel room.
